Today is the day Idea City in Second Life opens to the public. It’s something we’ve been talking about all year and now that it’s a reality, we’d like to extend an invitation to you to come visit.
To start, here’s a picture of our Guided Tour Heads Up Display:
You’ll end up here when you teleport into Idea City. The Guided Tour is perfect for anyone who wants to find out about interesting places in Second Life. We have two tours available: a tour of interesting real world business that have entered Second Life and another that takes you to interesting cultural areas of Second Life.
We have open sourced the code, meaning anyone can use our code to make new tours; because programmers have access to the source code that runs the tour, any programmer can use our code to make a better tour. In this way, we hope to see many different tours created, which helps solve a problem in Second Life: how to find interesting places. No need to fly around aimlessly, or chase green dots on a map. The Idea City Guided Tour HUDs show you many of the intriguing places in Second Life.
