Saturday March 12th:
SXSW madness is here:
Today’s festivities saw the crowds hit capacity with folks from interactive, music, and film already starting to collide. Surprising to a few attending Fillm, Interactive has displaced the indy film types with a rumored 3x more registrants, booting the film-makers to other floors of the convention center. Interactive SXSW includes over 20 attendees from GSD&M that will be filtering through the panel discussions and show floor this year.
Highlights so far:
- The continued rise of Make-ism. Editor of Make magazine, Phil Torrone’s keynote with Limor Fried was a classic, and included helpful tips on how to make friends and influence people with blackberries (how I wish I had one of these for my next agency presentation), create chandeliers out of gummie bears, and keeping cool at burning man. This is not Trading Spaces my freinds, this is DIY MIT style.
- Clamoring for the Geek Chic brass ring? Well you’re nobody if you’re not twittering.
- You thought the music industry is in trouble? Wait til the publishing industry get’s wind of this.
Day 3 should uncover more gems. Stay tuned for more from all of our Idea City participants at the show, and for those of you out and about don’t forget to catch GSD&M Best-In-Class partners and Digital America vets, the Gamer Girls of Frag Dolls/PMS clan with Joel Greenberg moderating.
