If:Book

Digital information got you down?  Depressed that universal ADD, the rise of the “other” media screens, and the YouTube generation will lead to the fall of everything that is good and smart about the literary arts?  (Or perhaps just yearn for the days when you could curl up to a trashy novel, a geek-chic cyberpunk book, or a old school mystery without the phone ringing, the blackberry pinging, or the RSS feeds blasting?)

Buck up my friends and peruse http://www.futureofthebook.org/blog/.  Though the world (and the book) may go digital, there’s still much to be excited about.

Here’s an excerpt from their mission statement. “The printed page is giving way to the networked screen. The Institute for the Future of the Book seeks to chronicle this shift, and impact its development in a positive direction. The Institute is a project of the Annenberg Center for Communication at the University of Southern California, and is based in Brooklyn, New York.”

 A worthy blog read.
